On Tuesday February 28th, acclaimed Cambodian artist Sophiline Cheam Shapiro performed a solo dance at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in front of looted statues. Her performance focused on an 8th-century “harihara” statue, a masterwork that was stolen from Cambodia in the 1970s and is key to Cambodia’s battle to get hundreds of statues back from Western museums and private collections. This t-shirt aims to raise awareness for the "harihara" in the Met (one of the most urgent priorities for Cambodia as it seeks the return of its stolen property) and put pressure on the Metropolitan Museum of Art to repatriate its stolen pieces.
